About Me

A little about myself...

Education:  I grew up in a Chicago suburb (Mt. Prospect, Illinois) and received my B.S. degree from Illinois State University (in Normal, Illinois), with a major in chemistry.  In May of 2009, I obtained my Master's of Art in Teaching degree from Brenau University.  In May of 2010 I completed the requirements for gifted certification.

Work Experience:  After working several years as a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry, I went on to pursue something I'd always loved...teaching science!  Over that past 10 years, I've taught science at a museum, a college lab, after-school to elementary students, and in a science lab at Dolvin Elementary.  I started at Taylor Road Middle School as a long-term substitute in Jan 2008 (7th grade Life Science) and and then the connections math teacher for all grades.  Last year I taught Life Science to 7th graders and this year, will continue with 4 life science classes, and 1 TAG physical science class to 8th graders.  I trust the experiences I bring will help your child grow in science.

Personal:  I met my husband (who is a chemist) during my last year at ISU and we make regular visits back to our alma mater, as his parents live in Normal, Illinois.  I LOVE Chicago pizza and hope someday I get to see the Cubs win the World Series.  We have 1 son, who is a sophomore at Chattahoochee HS.  In my "spare time", I play tennis, read, watch movies, and "hang with the family".  I love to travel, and it doesn't take long when I get back from 1 trip, to start planning the next.
